Christopher
Gruver is a fine art photographer who recently relocated to
Vancouver from Boulder, Colorado. He creates stunning botanical
photographs of flowers which he produces as museum-quality
chromogenic prints.
Once a competitive road cyclist, Gruver began his artistic
career as a male model with Wilhelmina and Ford Agencies in
New York. He travelled widely in Europe and North America
and worked with such famous photographers as Bruce Weber,
Irving Penn, Steven Meisel, Scavulo and Arthur Elgort. After
years of observing their techniques, he became fascinated
with photography itself. He found an intuitive connection
between his artistic vision and his subject matter, leading
to extensive portraits of flowers.
He writes, "When I see a magnificent flower very closely,
it captivates me completely and I would like for the sensuality
and grace of such an experience to overcome people. My images
are made to affect people with this transforming moment."
